II’m a repeat customer, as I had Schuck’s install a new transmission and rear-end in my ’67 Camaro last year. This year, when the transmission in my wife’s ’03 Chrysler started acting-up, it was a no-brainer as to where to take it! At first, Ed and Jeff did their best to keep our costs to a minimum, by troubleshooting and then replacing only the solenoid pack, as per the codes stored in the car’s computer. Unfortunately, the tranny continued to act-up after that, and the only recourse was to do a total rebuild. (At 143K miles, we figured it was about due anyway). Well, they did an excellent job rebuilding the entire tranny, then gave us full credit ($700) for the previous parts and labor that they had done in replacing just the solenoid pack. Since then, the tranny has been working just fine, with no more computer codes being tripped, and no more problems. It runs just like it did when we first bought it new and drove it off the dealer’s lot.
And, while we had the car in their shop… we asked them about replacing the timing belt and water pump… a not-so easy job for which the Chrysler dealer had quoted us $1500 to do. Schuck’s said “no problem”, and did the work for exactly HALF of the cost that the dealer wanted!
These are the reasons that I will go back to them… and why I recommend them… they’re an honest, friendly, up front shop that will never try to sell you something that you don’t need! Thanks, Jeff and Ed!!!
TTook our Honda 2000 Odyssey here to get a rebuilt transmission. No issues, and drove out with a 2-year warrantee. After 18 months, had an Engine light come on indicating issues with the torque convertor. It ended up being defective and it was the fault of the manufacturer of the part, not Schucks themselves. Even though it was 10 hours of labor to fix and replace, Jeff (the owner) never hesitated or attempted to beat around the bush. They saw the issue and took complete ownership. The entire experience was pleasant, professional, and he kept us informed at all times. I picked up the car – $0 charge – and was on my way. It was great to deal with an honest shop, with people who care. I definitely recommend Schucks for any transmission or clutch work.
II enjoy doing my own work on my classic cars but sometimes run into situations where I need an expert’s opinion and some help. Every time I have been to Shuck’s, the owner has been very friendly and helpful, offering to give me a free estimate of work I needed to have done and taking the time to explain to me the right way things should be done.
